Guess whose a true tiger?

We've hosted a Tiger Training campaign in Habbo for one week to test and train your tigg-erific skills for the year of tiger. It seems that you've mastered the tigerific skills, and we're rewarding Habbos will outstanding performance during this five training a token of appreciation.

During these 5 lessons tasks, we've figured out that most of our Habbos are actually a fit to be what it takes to be a tiger. So here's the outstanding Habbos during the five training lessons' tasks:

Hablympics Event 1 - Speed Skating

Skate, skatin' everywhere till we drop!

With Apolo Ono winning his 7th Olympic medal this past weekend and becoming the most decorated Winter Olympian for the USA, we thought that this Hablympics would start off with Speed Skatingon Friday 26 February, 1500 hrs to 1600 hrs NY.

When I shout GO, you will need to make 1 lap (or 500 meters) around this track in a counter-clock wise direction. The first skater to make it to the finish line wins a Gold Medal sticker and a point for their Habbolympic team.

To make it easier please be wearing your team's colors and have your team name in your motto. This will help us make sure the Gold Medal point goes to the correct team.

Hab-a-bony - We're superbly amazing!

Habbony have been an unofficial fansite since December 21, 2008. They have applied for official fansite once but they failed. However, they came back with another official fansite application form last week, and surprises us - hotel staffs and moderators. We've checked their website and fansite, we guarantee you their website is safe and sound for Habbos of shapes and sizes - they're actually same size though.

Tiger Training - Lesson 5

Home for the real tigers...

With all these trainings, you should have mastered the True tiger skills! However, there's one more little important lesson left before you fully master the tiger skills. Tigers should be independent, as you all know. Or else if they aren't, how are they able to find food for themselves? How do they be able to survive in Earth? That's why our last lesson, Lesson 5 is about Independence and creativity! This two skills are the main important skills. A true tiger should always be independent - Do things their own way and succeed and they should be creativity - trying their ways or means to get the thing done.

That's why our assignment for you is to Build a sanctuary for you and the tigers!

Design a room using the latest Chinese New Year furni and previous Chinese furni. You can also use other furniture...just make an awesome room! Submit a screenshot of your room, and send it to competitions.ny@sulake.com with your Habbo name. Make the subject line, 'Feng Shui Room Comp' and get it to us before Monday, February 22nd @ 8:59am.
Three winners will receive the Tiger Peace Badge, and 50 coins each! There will also be five Habbo Points distributed for this competition.

Tiger Training - Lesson 4

Find inner peace...

A tiger should always remain calm and shouldn't throw tandrums easily or crazily. They should always have the best behaviour and discipline. That's what the main objective of this training lesson. The fourth lesson leads us down a path of understanding and calmness. Confront the inner beast within through a trial of meditation with Habbo Staff...

Lesson 4: Peace

Join us for meditation sessions today, February 19th @ 4 - 4:30pm PT. The staff member hosting the room will announce a meditation period where all users fill the chat-log with nothingness. Here's an example. If you satisfy the host's meditation needs...then everyone will be rewarded with a Tiger Claw Badge!

The room will be kicked every five minutes to allow for new members. This will be your last chance to get this Chinese New Year badge, so don't miss it!

Winter Hablympics Is Coming!

We'll make the world of Olympics

As you know, the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics had already started. We're also celebrating this event in Habbo NY! We're gonna host a Official Winter Hablympics for this month. There would be competitions and game events hosted during this campaign and you'll be in teams.

What does that mean? Well, there would be 4 teams opened for registeration, the registeration form could be found below this piece of news. All you have to do is to select between these 4 teams, Cool Dudes, The Snow Empire, Hablympians, or the Geek Department. The Hablympic would start next week. The schedule will be given on Monday, 22 February. Meanwhile take a look at the description of the following teams:

· Cool Dudes - The awesomest of the awesome, the members of this Habbolympics team are definitely loud and proud. They love showing off their snowboarding skills and ski jumps, but their strategy is as good in the game of love as it is in Habbolympics events.

· Snow Empire - Think you should be treated like royalty on and off the rink? Then this team's for you. All the beautiful Habbos are members of this team, and they have the figure skating form and finesse to prove it.

· Geek Department - If you love sports and number-crunching, then you have to sign up for this team. Not only can they beat your odds 2-to-1 in their favour, they've also memorised all the players of each and every Habbolympic sports. Their brains are scarier than their brawn.

· Hablympians - These sports fans have a gold medal in partying and have won awards in and out of the dance floor. You'll probably see these Habbos at the team party rather than practising with their team.

So join us on Monday for the first day of the Winter Hablympics. We're sure to make the Hablympics go BOOM! :)

A Sad Departure

Farewell dearly!

Have you noticed the Habbo Moderators Group homepage recently? Well if you did, you can probably see no sign of MOD-PotsNPans name in the list, also her habbo avatar. This is the issue. MOD-PotsNPans have decided to step down as a Hotel Moderator and she'll be working in a restaurant down the streets of Staten Island. Well, we all know that cooking is MOD-PotsNPans are her cooking talent.

We're also sad to hear her departure, and what's more, she've been a hotel moderator since Habbo NY started on late 2004. We want to remember her service for us, and certainly herself. We'd be putting out the Kitchen line furni for today and tomorrow only, filled with stainless steel equipments, stove, racks. To remember MOD-PotsNPans, we have changed the furni motto of the Kitchen Inspector. Instead of "Isn't that Harry?", we've changed to "He's Harry, MOD-PotsNPans' subordinate."

So get on your cooking talent and start whipping up a feast for MOD-PotsNPans, say farewell to her by tagging on her guestbook.

Tiger Training - Lesson 3

Let out the lion in you!

What would Chinese New Year be without the colourful parade of larger-than-life lion masks and undulating dragon bodies dancing to the beat of the drums? While originally done to protect the villages from evil spirits, these days traditional Chinese lion dancers practise the art simply because it's fun. So grab your friends, get into the groove, and show us your own Habbo lion dance!

What do I need to do?
· Get together a team of lion dancers. Your team must have 3-5 Habbos.
· Choreograph your own lion dance routine. Feel free to add your own flair to your song-and-dance number — the more imaginative, the better! Plus, we always love a good laugh, so ham it up for the camera! Your entire video must not be more than 3 minutes long.
· Record your Habbo lion dance performance using Camtasia or any other screencasting software. There are loads of them available on the Internet, both for PCs and Macs.

· Upload your finished video on YouTube.
· Email your submission to competitions.sg [at] sulake.com with the email title 'Tiger Year Lion Dance' and include the following info:

We'd like to announce a piece of fantastic news to all Habbos. Our hotel community staff, Sagarithus also a News editor in our news blog, have been promoted to the Hotel Community Manager. In other words, she will be in-charge of the Habbo Guides - not ready for now, helping out in events, safety advising, and taking care and making sure everything's okay in Habbo Hotel. That's an important role, certainly and we're proud of her previous effort she have put in.

Tiger Training - Lesson 2

Gotta make your eyes perfect

As tigers in training, your observation skills must be excellent. You have to be able to tell the difference between a stinky fish and a fresh fish, sunrise and sunset, and you must know the answer to the question 'What is the sound of one hand clapping?' As such, this next exercise will help you develop your observation skills.

Today's lesson task is that we will be attaching two picture files (.PNG format) in this news. All you have to do is to download this picture files. Then, click on the both pictures. The picture shows Chinese and non-chinese Habbos waving at a Chinese New Year parade. However, they aren't same. There are actually 10 differences in the two pictures. What you have to do is to spot the difference between the two pictures, and fill it up on the blanks on the submission form.

Don't forget to write your 5 step method. No plagiarism please - if we see same method explanation, we'll dump it immediately. 10 First habbos who answered correctly will receive a crouching tiger seat, Level 1 Tiger, and 3 Habbo points. Another 10 random Habbos will reeive a Tiger poster and 2 Habbo points.

Remember, Observation is important in a true tiger.

What's new in Habbo?

Those pesky blockers!
A lot of Habbos always complain about room blockers — you know, those pesky pixels that refuse to move in a queue, or want you to pay just to walk inside. Well, we've finally done something about it. Starting today, all private rooms will allow Habbos to walk through each other by default. You can't stand in the same spot as another Habbo, but if you encounter someone who's blocking your way while you're crossing the room to grab a drink from a Pura Bar, then you can just glide right through them, like a ghost!

Room owners now have the right to turn blocking on or off, in case you need to run games where blocking is required. You can find this checkbox on the room info box, alongside the rights for Habbos to bring in pets or to eat your own pet food.
We'll be looking at how this works closely, and tuning the walking depending on how it pans out. Remember to participate in the poll later this week, where we'll be asking about your opinions on the feature! If we don't know about your opinions, we can't change Habbo for the better.

One Facebook account = multiple Habbos
Haven't checked out the Habbo Facebook application yet? Well, you should! Facebook has a lot of built in protection for your account and there's less passwords to remember when signing in, so playing Habbo is easier and more secure when you use a Facebook account to play.

To make things even easier, starting from today, you can have more than 1 Habbo character linked to your Facebook, Google or Twitter account. You'll see a new screen when signing in that asks which character you want to use, or if you want to create a new character. In a couple days time we'll also add a feature which allows you to link multiple old Habbos to a Facebook (or other third party) account.

Remember to always be safe on Habbo, whether you're using Facebook, Google, Twitter, or any other third-party account to log on. Never share your username and password to anyone, online or offline, and keep your personal information to yourself.

Practice Makes Perfect

Stop cracking jokes and start picking up morals every tiger-roaring lesson!

For each Tiger training lessons, we'd be posting the objective skills to be picked up from the lesson. Every lesson we hope that you all would display this skills on your task and lesson and use it for your future endeavors. However, do not ever mis-use those skills wrongly!

That's why for each lesson, there would be submission forms in the news. However, the submission form is different now. You'd have to come up with steps that you took during your working process to get the final answer, you also have to answer an explanation for each steps, the whole procedure of your lesson task should not exceed 250 words and it shouldn't have more than 6 steps.

Tame your inner beast and solve the mystery behind the Tiger Gardens!

Something extremely odd recently occurred at the Tiger Gardens. It appears that soon after the New Year began, all the rooms got jumbled up...and are completely in the wrong order. We've no idea how this happened, but it's a huge feng-shui nono! The rooms need to be immediately reorganized in the correct order, or it could mean terrible fortune for us all...

They are numbered 1 through 8, but each room holds very specific details related to the next room's correct placement. Since they are currently all jumbled up, we'll need you to find what order the rooms were originally in. In The Year Of The Tiger

The year of the ox passes, and now for the year of tiger

It's the Chinese New Year week. In the Southeast Asia, people would go all around the island, paying almost all their relatives a visit and exchange mandarin oranges. That's a tradition of the Chinese on Chinese New Year. For Habbo NY, we're also celebrating the year of tiger like the Chinese did, not to exaggerate.

However, in this Chinese New Year celebrations, we'd be your masters - not fengshui, we're NO good at it! We'd be teaching you the mighty tiger skills, that you will pick up and it can come in handy sometimes. We'd be giving you a training cos' we know that the year of tiger, could be violent and emotional like a tiger! :)

What A Date

Stop playin' games with my heart

Well, yesterday was Valentine, and I betcha everyone is having a whale of time in your date with your boyfriend, yeah? Well, Mariah and Mafizo's date was an exception. Yesterday, we hired a spy to spy on them. Guess what is the date? They were purely quarrels. Mariah and Mafizo were in a cat fight, both of them were quarreling on two-timing. Mariah caught Mafizo two-timing, while Mafizo also caught her two-timing, and both were finding faults to scold the other party. What a date, I'll say.

So this Valentine ended, the Heartbreak hotel closes until the next Valentine. As for Mariah and Mafizo, they both walk in their own way - in other words, they broke up. Saddening news to hear on Valentine day. So, that's all for Mariah and Mafizo

In Valentine homecomings and parties, we have to dress smartly and beautifully. Not everyone can have a beautiful prom dress to wear or a beautiful suit to wear on a homecoming prom. Proms are special occasions of the year, they are usually during Valentine day, according to some data. Recently, Koi and Goraina was rummaging their wardrobes, and Oh frank! What's inside their closet were the retro clothes and dresses!

Gee, isn't the retro style out of date this years? Where could they possibly working on? It seems that they've not been purchasing clothes this year - that's UNCONTROLLABLE! We all need a beautiful dress for prom, and not those retro dresses - of course the people in the prom would laugh their heads off.

Celebrate Chinese New Year with a bang!

The tradition of writing spring couplets, or duilian, for Chinese New Year, began way back during the time of Emperor Meng Chang. He carved lucky inscriptions on his door frames in order to invite good luck to enter his palace, and soon the entire country followed suit. Until now, displaying spring couplets above the door or as wall scrolls is a part of the CNY celebrations.
Usually, spring couplets present the change of seasons from winter to spring, and uses images like trees and rivers and birds in order to ground the poem into nature.

For example:
After winter, the warm wind comes. The night sky is clear.
Spring beckons like a lover. Above the clouds, a star appears.
Now that you've got an idea of what spring couplets are, why not write your own couplet celebrating Chinese New Year? The 10 best couplets will start the New Year with these lucky prizes:

The chinese new year is coming and it falls on 14th February (Oh Valentine...), 15 February and 16 February. It's a public holiday for Chinese-related countries. There are 12 days of the Chinese New Year celebration. However, the first 3 days are only public holidays. This chinese year is the year of Tiger. In other words, we are here to break out some saddening news.

You see, we've released some sleek Ox statue and Ox wall painting. Well, since the year of Ox is over, we'll not be selling the Ox furni in our stores already. However, since Chinese new year is arriving, we'll be clearing all our Ox furni we have jn our store room and it will be on sale under the "Ox" section of the catalouge. It will be gone on 17 February 0001 hrs (based on NY timing).
So remember to wish the tiger a very very special year, and we'll wave goodbye to the Ox year. :)

Dancing till dawn during Valentine's eve? Countdown to Valentine with your loved one? Watch the sunset together during Valentine? Or just sleeping for the whole Valentine day? Don't waste your time there when we have a homecoming! Yes, we're hosting a homecoming prom to all Habbos - whether you are attached or single. We're hosting the homecoming prom on the 14 February 2010, this Sunday, from 1100 hours all the way to 0000 hours the next day, Monday 15 February 2010. There'll be slots of each host. So we need your help. Mariah is feeling down as she was once bein' dumped by his ex-boyfriend, we need you to write her a letter, do an alt (not more than 1000x1000 pixels), you can put a picture there of Mariah and her former boyfriend, Mafizo, or maybe other cute stuff and make sure you write the letter there, you can add a text box there if you want. Today, 9 February 2010 is the World's Safer Internet Day. In commemoration of the day, we're releasing a free Safer Internet Day 2010 sticker up for grabs! Every time Koi, our hotel founder and Goraina, our hotel manager, walk past the couple, they would be either hugging, or holding hands tightly and whispering into each other's ears (aw, so sweet). Well, for Valentine date, the most important things in the date is the event, activity and the meal. The meal is the most important part of a date, without a perfect date, your whole date's effort will be fruitless - who wants a disgusting meal?

So Mariah and Mafizo are choosing where to dine in, EL Ritzo restaurant, Al Chovos, or Cuisine De Melangee, they still didn't think it was their ideal place for them to dine. Mind you, they're picky about this! That's the problem. We need your help. Mariah and Mafizo wants you to build for them a special, romantic place to dine in during the Valentine Day date. They want the restaurant to be unique, stylish and most-importantly original. It must also serve delicious foods as well, or else your effort could be washed down to the drain. (;

So build a large restaurant (50 habbos max.), it could be a restaurant with 3 levels, a restaurant in the ocean, a restaurant in the egyptian pyramid, or anything that impress their mind. And our main culprit for all the causes he have done - the snow in our hotel, the murder case, the disruption of the wedding party, and theft case. Finally today, the main culprit have been unleashed, thanks to our handy-helpers. Recently, we've asked Habbos to use all the clues by the janitor to find out the real true main culprit, and submit it with a report.

Our mail box were clogged badly, overflowed with loads of reports. There were superb ones, amazing ones, awesome ones, silly ones, HUMOROUS ones (ha ha, we have many of them, we can't stop laughing) and some boring ones. );

So we shall annouce the main culprit. Every one, don't throw rotten eggs, we don't want a mess in our hotel - after all the mess would end up smelling galore. The main culprit for all these causes is ...The janitor who gave us the clues, but what's strange is that the janitor is an ILLEGAL WORKER! He didn't registered as a worker and he sneaks in our hotel and act like a worker. So much for suspiciousness. His name is Kitty. Washing some extra Credits off your hands? We're here to help.

It's almost Valentines' Day and we're sure most of you are gearing up for your annual scrub down. Unfortunately, leaky pipes in Habbo forced us to close down most of the bathrooms, which means that washing that man (or woman) out of your hair might not be happening so soon. Thankfully, we've heard that a shipment of Power Showers are coming this way in a few days, and if you want to get your hands on this shiny, germ-free rare, then read on!

What do I need to do?
· Redeem a total of 100 Credits' worth of scratch cards from 0700h, 10 February to midnight, 16 February.

· It can be of any denomination and any combination, as long as they're scratch cards and you redeem them between 10
February to 16 February. You don't have to redeem them all at once, but you need to have redeemed 100 Credits before 16 February. You can use any of the Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines scratch cards.

· Give us a couple of days (at most!) to weed through all the names and check to see if you really did redeem 100 Credits' worth of scratch cards during that time period.

· If you did, then hey presto! You'll receive the rare Power Shower in your Inventory (probably gift-wrapped; it's Valentines', after all), which will never be sold in the Catalogue. Ever.

Each Habbo is only allowed one Power Shower, so even if you redeem more than 100 Credits within the time period, we'll still be giving you just a single solitary Shower.

It's all about LOVE in the HeartBreak Hotel.

You see, there's a secret we've been keeping for a year or so. Last Valentine, there's actually a teeny winsy hotel built behind to our hotel. The hotel was located behind our hotel, so no one could even notice about the hotel. Well, they finally built finished the whole hotel and it had it's opening ceremony yesterday. The hotel was the HeartBreak Hotel.

We'd also like to introduce a lovely couple Mariah and Mafizo. However there's one problem, both Mariah and Mafizo always flirt. That's the situation. So, in conclusion Mariah and Mafizo are playboys and playgirls. We need your help. If this problem would not stop, their heart will break apart. We don't want that to happen on Valentine Day! Valentine day is all about love, not heartbreaks! Certainly you don't want that as well.

So this valentine objective is to make sure Mariah and Mafizo are in good terms again, but we need your help also in the date on Valentine day. A full day date. Mariah and Mafizo wouldn't mind us to help in the date, so it's pretty safe.

Oh I love Valentine~

Yes, soon, we'll be starting the Valentine's Day 2010 Program. It might be next week, today, tomorrow, or the days after tomorrow! Let the love spirit burn till the whole year! And let us warn you, there might be some crazy love or deep deep and lovely love going on this year. We got news from our janitors that they found undies around most of the Hotel rooms. So, get on your love spirit, and get your loved ones ready for this special event coming up!

Love is like a red red rose. :D

WTF? The Janitor has spoken all the clues?

You might wonder that the clues everyday have been dwindling. This is as the janitor confirmed that these 2 clues are the only clues he knew. That's totally strange. Oh yes, his name is Orkie. Surprisingly, he might be a janitor that came in recently, because our list that was updated since last year, didn't have his name in it. But he also confessed that he joined our family for 2 years from now.

And that's pretty strange, our suspense were building and building. Something tells me that the janitor, Orkie is the culprit. Our Hotel Moderators and staffs were suspecting Orkie as well. Well, so many coincidences happened during this whole situation. He tends to know everything about the culprit (e.g. he knows about he's a staff here all those crap). So before we leave this case to the police, we need you to write for us a report and state the evidences that why he is the culprit. Write between 100 to 200 words, do leave paragraphs - we don't want to read a chunk of words. Make sure you check for spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes as we hate bad reports. We tend to toss them around and throw it to the dust bin.

After you're done with the 100-200 word report, send it to competitions.ny[at]sulake.com, include your Habbo name, your report, and your culprit's name. Make sure to follow and obey the submission guidelines and the habbo way when you're submitting your entry or writing your report! We don't want any nasty and unacceptable behavior in it, you might even be temporarily banned from disobeying the Habbo way (e.g. writing some silly and rude comments in your report e.g. SUCKS LIKE HELL).
